Easy DIY Necklace For The Forth Of July

Hey!!
Happy Fourth of July!! Here is a last minute fourth of July necklace that you can make in probably...half an hour? I worked on it sporadically during the day but it really didn’t take me long.
I apologize for the picture quality. My sister (who is a talented photographer) just informed me that the pictures were the worst pictures on the planet. She is going to give me photography lessons. I guess I just snap quick pictures while I’m working. Most of the crafts I do, I have never tried before:)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Materials:
Polymer clay (red, white, and blue)
Eye pins or wire.
Chain
Clasp
Glue
Glitter
Start by taking a little bit of the white clay and roll it into a ball.
Flatten the ball and then press the edges against a flat surface to make a rectangle.
Now take your red clay and make a ball. Roll the ball out so it turns into a long, very thin rope.
Cut it into pieces the size of your white rectangle and flatten it out like the picture above.
Make as many as you need.
Lay the red strips on the white rectangle like the picture. I made the red pieces shorter where the blue part is. To make the blue part you do the same thing as I did for the white rectangle but make it smaller. When your done press all of the pieces gently so that they stay in place.
Next I added little white dots for the stars.
Now take your eye pins and trim them so that when you stick them into your flag they won’t come out the bottom.
If you don’t have eye pins you can make them using wire and a needle nose pliers.
Stick the eye pin into the top corners of the flag.
Now bake it! My instructions were to bake it at 270 degrees for 15 minutes.
After your charm cools, add a chain. However you want to do it:)
To add interest I smeared tacky glue on the red stripes and the stars, then I sprinkled glitter in it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And your done!!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
Let me know what you are doing for the fourth of July!

  1. Wow to be honest at first I expected it to look a bit childish, because of your use of clay, but it looks really good! <3 I hope you had a nice Fourth of July.

    Ok, I know this is really old, but you don't have any recent posts. :(

    You follow my blog, but since I changed my URL, my GFC followers aren't receiving my posts in their Dashboard anymore. So if you want to, visit the new blog and just refollow. I hope you'll see this comment. If you do, let me know if it works. :)
